All charm bracelets and charm necklaces represent the characteristics of each of the ladies who have handmade them. Every Saturday Ladies between the ages of 15 - 25 would come over to the place I was staying at (in Namibia, Africa) and would learn and develop their skills in Jewellery making. In the last few weeks I was there, they partnered up into two's and created charm bracelets and necklaces which uniquely reflects who they are and what they have gone through. These ladies come from difficult living conditions. They are burdened with financial difficulties and surrounded by early pregnancies; diseases such as HIV/AIDS are rampant and many of them live as single young mothers. They wish to have their personalized jewellery designs sold here in Canada, in hopes to alleviate some of their financial burdens. Many of them are no different than us, some dream of going to school, while some just want to survive through the day.
